How and Why I Am in a Place of Thriving and Flourishing in my life (and how you can get there too)

What I’ve Done Over The Past 4+ Years To Get To A Place of Thriving and Flourishing in my Life

I will preface this blog post by saying that my life is in no way perfect. It also doesn’t mean that I am always happy, or that I don’t have challenges or problems, or that I’m always in a good mood and life is all butterflies and rainbows.

That is simply not realistic. We are human beings after all; and life can be complex, filled with many ups and many downs, filled with pain/regret/hard emotions but also filled with so much love, joy, bliss, happiness, and wonder.

All in all, I can confidently say that I am in a place in my life where I feel that I am thriving and flourishing in life (for the most part). If you had asked me about 4+ years ago, I wouldn’t be able to tell you the same thing. Prior to that, my life had always felt just okay; like it was great in some moments, but overall it just felt okay and like I was merely surviving in my day-to-day life. At that time, that felt okay (it was all that I knew), and I figured that’s just how life is for most people: just okay. (spoiler alert: life can be more than okay, you just have to work for it). That is the real kicker: you have to work for it. It is not by chance or luck that I am living a life that I love; it is through intention, dedication/commitment, and action (ie work). But I don’t consider it work because I enjoy it and it is worthwhile to me.

I began my “healing” journey about 4+ years ago. I put this in air quotes because I use that term with a grain of salt. Healing can look so different for different people. To me, healing means intentionally working on achieving total mind, body, spirit wellness and harmony. So for me, that began about 4+ years ago when I started experiencing major gut issues (candida overgrowth) that led me to seek out a health practitioner. From there, I started to learn about my physical health, and then more recently, about my emotional health and how EVERYTHING is interconnected.

So without further ado, below is a comprehensive list of all the things I’ve done/continue to do/incorporate into my lifestyle so that I am thriving and flourishing in life. It may seem like a lot, but keep in mind that I didn’t do everything all at once; and a lot of the habits and practices are things I do consistently that are just part of my lifestyle (and I love doing). Think of it as a build your own buffet, and you can try different things depending on where you are in life. Also keep in mind that change is often the most difficult in the beginning, as it was for me, but once you see the “results” (improved health, wellbeing, vitality), you’ll want to keep going and commit to some of these things.

  • Working with a practitioner (for gut health, physical health, emotional health, chronic stress, any health issues that don’t seem to be resolved with conventional doctors)

  • Acupuncture or acupuncture mat

  • Therapy (I was using this company recently because of an accessible price point but there’s so many)

  • Meditation (lots of resources here as well - YouTube is a good resource)

  • Coaching (I’ve done coaching for various things: business, job, personal, etc) both 1:1 coaching or group coaching

  • Healing work (I’ve tried reiki a few times)

  • MBSR sessions

  • Dating coaching (including going through my own program The Dating Reset)

  • Red light therapy

  • Holistic facials

  • Massage, manicures/pedicures, hair treatments

  • Supplements and wellness things (from practitioners or my own research)

  • Journaling

  • Tapping

  • Somatic coaching

  • Sound healing

  • Hypnosis

  • Reading books (both non-fiction and fiction) or subscribing to educational/uplifting newsletters

  • Listening and learning via podcasts (there are so many out there! I’ve listened to tons of different ones, including for dating, nervous system work, health and nutrition, etc.)

  • Sharing (in group programs, on social media, etc).

  • Blogging

  • An intentional morning routine

  • Affirmations

  • Nature/Grounding Exercises

  • Gardening

  • Getting my Integrative Somatic Practitioner Certification from IWA

  • Eating well/cooking

So as you can see, a lot of different things! I’m sure I missed a few. If you would like further support in your own journey to get to a place of thriving/flourishing in life, I would love to see how we can work together. No matter your current situation, I truly believe that thriving/flourishing is possible for you too. Sending you a lot of love!
